Pro Compression Marathon Calf Sleeve Review and Giveaway!

I've used compression sleeves off and on for the last couple of years now. They have infused themselves into many a runners closets and daily running wear. The Pro Compression people were kind enough to send me a pair of their Marathon Calf Sleeves for review and I was excited to see how they would compare to the ones I already have.

What do they do and how do they work? Here's what Pro Compressions website has to say:

Marathon Calf Sleeves combine the optimal blend of advanced materials and innovative design to deliver maximum benefit. Compression technology helps improve blood flow and oxygen delivery, resulting in better, more consistent performance with less fatigue and faster recovery.

Thanks to our advanced design, Marathon Calf Sleeves also support critical muscles and tendons, helping reduce inflammation and soreness associated with running and other activities.  Put it all together for the perfect compression sleeve for training, race day, recovery or even travel.

It’s PR time when you match Marathon Calf Sleeves with your favorite Trainer Low running sock!

Features

Graduated compression design for maximum blood flow
Supports critical areas to reduce muscle fatigue
Lightweight construction for incredible comfort
Advanced material blend provides maximum comfort and support
Moisture control keeps you dry during your biggest efforts
Ideal for running, cycling and other activities
Care for your Calf Sleeves by washing in cold water and allow to air dry

First impression:

They looked pretty small and I wondered if they would even fit over my calves.  The previous ones that I have worn are considerably larger and are quite easy to put on. Now is that a good thing? Not really as I never felt they provided me with the right compression that was needed to be beneficial. These do take some effort to get on but once on the compression on the calves is noticeable but not in an uncomfortable way.

I had received the calf sleeves for review just after I completed a half marathon so they were perfect to aid my recovery and flush out that lactic acid that had built up during the 13.1 miles. I also took them out for  a run and I have to say that I really liked them. Once on the calf they never slipped and provided the perfect tightness for my liking.

Overall:

I'd say if you are looking for your calf sleeves to provide actual compression these are a great pair to get. They are comfortable and once on you will hardly notice they are there.

  3. I love running, it has brought so many amazing things into my life. It challenges me, it pushes me, it helps me stay fit and healthy, it gives me a great stress relief, and it gives me something to work for. I love training and working towards goals. Currently training for my 5th marathon, and my first half-Ironman. My right calf has been giving me a lot of issue lately so this is the prize for me!

  4. I have run for over 15+ years and it has become something that is incorporated into my life. I've done so many different types of workouts, but nothing beats the total body workout that running gives you. Not only does it keep me in shape, but it gives me personal time to reflect on what's going on in my life. Running boosts my mood when I'm sad, calms me down when I'm overwhelmed, and relaxes me when I'm anxious. It's my go to remedy.

I've actually never tried out compression socks and I would be so excited to try these out! I'm currently running about 6-10 miles a day with long runs on the weekends. I actually did get one compression sock on Vday...but I think I should wear one on both calves ;) My bf wears compression socks and is an awesome athlete. I wanna be just like him...I actually think he has a pair. It would be nice to be matching for our run together in the next couple of months.

Also, this blog is great. I love reading about your races...it's an inspiration to all of us runners. :) have a happy day. Love love love.

  9. I love to run because my little boys see a woman who can push through c-sections and stay strong, who can run with the guys and keep up. They see a mom that works hard to keep healthy no matter how many bad "genes" she has been dealt. Its more than just a workout or having a good body- I will show them that if they work hard, stay strong and positive they can achieve ANYTHING as well! :)

  18. I started running after my brother passed away in 2000 - for me running was an escape - a way to get my thoughts together and deal with the loss of my brother. It still is an outlet for me - enjoying nature - thinking about things - I love it and look forward to every chance I get to 'hit the road or trails'.

  25. I love running. It is such a stress reducer, but I suffer from shin splints. Compression sleeves have become my best friend and running partner. I'm always looking for a better product to help me continue to do what I love. I will give these a try. Thanks for the great review.

    1. THanks for checking out my blog Nickelhouse16. I too suffered from shin splints before. Mine were caused by my heel striking leading to extreme tightness around my calves. I've since switched to vibrams and am running injury and pain free for the last two years. It's definitely not for everybody but it worked for me. Good luck with your training!
